Webcam with Telescope

Galileo is often credited with inventing the telescope, but you might be surprised to discover a Dutch lensmaker filed for a patent the year before Galileo created his "perspicillum." Actually, you might even find, 400 years previous, an English bishop wrote about using lenses to make distant things appear larger.
s a surveillance tool, webcams are awesome, but they're usually designed for close-up use - anything you want to see that's farther away than a few feet becomes tiny and pixelated. Finally, in 2007, somebody was smart enough to attach a 7x telescope to the end of a webcam. Now those distant things appear larger!
